Layback to Tape: Pros and Cons

One of the easiest and most reliable ways for saving your edited video is recording it on a DV Tape. There are some Pros and Cons to this method.
Pros:
- This method is more reliable for preserving your video, compared to saving it on the computer or on DVD.
- The quality of your video image remains exactly the same as the source. However, you may lose some quality by converting your video to another format to save it on your computer or make a DVD.
Cons:
- While computers and DVD players are available almost everywhere, DV playback systems are not! So you have to have a DV camera or a DV deck to playback your movie.
- Remember that DV tapes are like VHS tapes, so there is no option for making menus like DVDs or jumping to different parts of the video like in computer or CDs.
Overall, it is recommended to have one copy of your edited video for archiving purposes.
